We have created some new posters that promote the services of Exmouth Food Bank. They are intended to show people that we are here to help and explain how to get in touch with us.
We have been distributing the posters around Exmouth and have been asking organisations such as local churches, GP surgeries, schools, community centres, supermarkets and charity shops to display them for us. If you would like a copy of the poster to display then please email: info@exmouthfoodbank.org.uk and we will get one to you. The more we can spread the word about the Food Bank, the better. We want to ensure everyone that needs us, knows where we are, what we do and how to get in touch for the support they need.
Building work has picked up a pace at the Salvation Army Hall in Sheppards Row where the Food Bank is located. We are all looking forward to seeing the finished result.
We now have a new roof and ceiling, also a new office area and some adaptations to the kitchen area. The internal walls have been replastered ready for a new coat of paint.
It’s been quite dusty and noisy in the hall at times, so we are very lucky that Glenorchy Church has stepped in and allowed us to operate from their premises on a Wednesday. We’d like to say a huge thank you to them as their generosity has allowed us to continue to provide food to our clients during this period.
During June we delivered 153 parcels which fed 306 people. This is an increase on May, but is still slightly lower than the number of people we were feeding this time last year.
We are very fortunate to be well-stocked with food at the present time thanks to all of our incredible supporters and donors. We will let everyone know if and when this changes, but at the moment, the only food we require is:
We continue to refine our plans for moving out of lockdown later this year and are working towards opening the Food Bank to support clients face-to face in September. More news about how we intend to do this will be communicated to all of our referring agencies, supporters and clients over the coming months and will be based on government guidelines.
Meanwhile we have already had to wave a sad ‘goodbye’ to some of the amazing volunteers who have helped us through the last 16 months as they have returned to their ‘normal’ jobs. Although they may no longer be with us working in the Hall we know they are still great supporters of the Food Bank and want to thank them for all their hard work, good humour and generosity.
