Exmouth Foodbank January 2021 Newsletter

Happy New Year 2021

Welcome to our January Newsletter and a Happy New Year to all of our clients, supporters and volunteers.

You may have noticed some of the exciting changes we have this month such as our new name, website, telephone numbers and email addresses.

We are really proud of our new website and hope you find it easy to use. Whilst some things have changed, everything else remains the same; we are still here to help people in and around Exmouth who need an emergency supply of food but we have tried to make getting food or donating supplies easier.

COVID-19 News

We have remained open throughout the pandemic including during Lockdown 3.

All of our volunteers are following government guidelines and are working in a socially distanced and safe way. Unfortunately, we can’t welcome our clients back into the Hall to collect food at this stage of the pandemic.

So, unless you don’t have an address, we will continue to deliver food to you. Please don’t come to the Hall.

For food donations we have collection points in stores around Exmouth and an outside drop-off area at the rear of the Salvation Army Hall.

2020 What a year!

Overall during 2020 we experienced a 40% increase in demand for food compared to 2019 – this meant that last year we delivered 2315 parcels that fed 4837 people.

We are here to help and are so pleased to be able to continue to support those in need.

In fact, during 2020 the total weight of baked beans we gave out to our clients was the same as the average African elephant!

Thank you to our amazing community

Whilst demand for food went up in December and January, donations of both food and money did too. We are continually amazed by your generosity.

We received donations from churches, schools, clubs, local businesses as well as individuals who continued to give food via our various collection points. Donations included shoe boxes of toys for children and local community group collections. As a result of such kindness we were able to supplement our standard food parcels with some extra treats and ‘good cheer.’

February plans

Our plans for next month include working to ensure we can remain open. If we need to adapt further we will, as long as we can support our clients.

If you are able to donate to us and want to know what food we are short of this month then please visit the ‘Donate’ section of our website to find out more.

Thank you - together we can continue to support those in need in and around Exmouth.
