Half Term Help

During Half Term, we provided extra food parcels for families with children which contained some tasty and nourishing snacks to help see them over the school break.

These were really well received by the children and parents/carers alike and they looked lovely !

Community links

We are always keen to seek out new ways of joining up with other local support agencies and charities in the area. This month we attended a community coffee morning hosted by Tesco where a number of charities that they support were present. We chatted to Dream-A-Way, a charity that provides grants towards holidays for people of all ages who live in Devon and who have disabilities or life limiting conditions. We are pleased to say we have been able to supply some food for their clients holidaying in Exmouth. More details about Dream-A-Way can be found on their website at : https://dream-a-way.org

We have been busy “spreading the word” about the Food Bank and have given talks to several organisations about what we do, how we operate and how we can help people in need in the local area. This month we have attended events at Inner Wheel. Orcombe Court, Withycombe Village school and Littleham Church Sunday school. If you have an organisation that would be interested in hosting a talk from one of our Food Bank volunteers, then please email us at: info@exmouthfoodbank.org.

October Totals

During this month we have supplied 232 food parcels which has fed 405 people.

The numbers for October have increased from previous months and we are now experiencing higher demand as we head into the winter.

Looking back over our records of the past five years, we can see a similar pattern in increased demand between October and December.

It’s not unexpected, especially as people start to face increased fuel bills at this time of year. In addition this year some individuals are facing the financial impact of the end of the Universal Credit £20 uplift.

Christmas Donations

We are already planning for the festive season and hope to be able to give out some extra Christmas treats and goodies to our clients in time for them to enjoy over the holidays.

Donations of advent calendars, Christmas treats and items for our Christmas bags are already starting to arrive from our generous sponsors and will add that extra festive cheer to someone in need.

Please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for updates on specific items that we are short of and note that donations need to be with us by Friday 10 December to be included in Christmas parcels.

Christmas Opening Times

During the festive period the Food Bank will be open to clients on the following days:
