Exmouth Food Bank Spring 2026 Newsletter

The start of a new year is always a busy time for Exmouth Food Bank as families struggle from the aftermath of Christmas and the onslaught of energy bills. We would like to say a HUGE thank you to our loyal supporters including churches, schools, clubs, businesses and generous individuals who during 2025 enabled us to provide food for nearly 6,000 people.

We would also like to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of the team of 45 volunteers who run the Food Bank. Each week they turn up to collect food from drop boxes, date and sort donated items, pack crates of food, engage with and advise clients and deliver to those who are too unwell to collect. They are an amazing bunch and obviously enjoy what they do as they keep coming back for more!

Our mission during 2026 is to ensure that we can continue to provide food to those in crisis in and around Exmouth. We also want to consolidate our work with agencies such as Citizens Advice and East Devon District Council. In addition, we aim to extend our work with others such as Adult Social Services, so that we can assist individuals to move out of the situation which has led them to seek our help.

We need your help

Demand for our services remains high; on average we are providing food for 70 individuals and families per week. Due to the uncertainty of the current world situation and the rising costs of food and fuel, which emerge as a result of war, this demand is set to increase further.

Exmouth Food Bank is very much run by the community for the community and relies totally on food and financial donations to function. However, our donors are also struggling with the cost of living themselves and donations have understandably begun to decline. At the same time, during the past 6 months staple items that we purchase for our food parcels such as beans, tinned meat meals and pasta sauce have risen in price by 11%.

Currently it costs us a £1,000 per week to feed those in need. Anything you can do to support us would be much appreciated such as offering to do some fundraising on our behalf or making a financial/ food donation.

More information about donating to the Food Bank can be found on our website at: exmouthfoodbank.org.uk/donate/.

We would welcome donations of Easter eggs and treats to give to families. If possible such donations need to be with us by Friday 20 March so that we have time to distribute them ahead of Easter.

Donations can be brought to the Food Bank on a Tuesday or Friday anytime between 09:00 and 15:00. They can also be dropped off at the main Tesco store on Salterton Road in the trolley next to the blue token voting unit.

Advanced warning to referring agencies - the Food Bank will be open on Tuesday 24 March as usual but will be closed on Good Friday 3 April. Normal opening hours will resume the following week.
